'Birgitte's Exquisite Handknits, LLC' is trading as 'KillaKnits'.

As the company name suggests, Birgitte has developed a high-end and unique line of handknit women's clothing. Every garment is designed and handknit, with an intense love for the creative process. Her beautiful designs exhibit a distinct European fashion-forward flavor. Her whole reason for designing and selling these artistic and stylish knits is because she wants to make other women feel the same excitement she has been experiencing since the young age of 10. Getting dressed is something we all have to do every day; Birgitte's goal is to make it exciting, memorable, and something to look forward to.

Birgitte's garments, all of her own original design, are held to the highest standards of a perfectionist; her own. Beauty, Fit, Quality, and Comfort are wrapped around her knitting needles with every stitch. The process starts with her careful selection of Top Quality yarns. She mostly uses natural fibers such as cottons, bamboos, linens, and rayons. Rayon is a regenerated semisynthetic textile filament made from natural fibers and considered a semi-natural fiber. Even a small percentage of rayon will add a beautiful sheen and luster to the yarn and allow the garment to drape comfortably around the body. By using a high percentage of natural fibers her knits are suitable for all seasons, regions, and yes, occasions! Her fall/winter designs consist of beautifully detailed, figure-flattering, and cozy sweaters that provide comfort and warmth in style. Her line of lightweight lacy knits are chic and versatile; dressy enough for a wedding and cool enough for a barbeque or walk on the beach. These unique Lace knits can be worn in the warmest of climates, dressing up any plain tank top, tee, or dress, but are not limited to just summer wear. Go ahead and fancy up that plain long sleeved tee or turtleneck in fall or winter. Killaknits has a substantial selection of comfy in-between sweaters perfect for spring, fall, and cooler summer days or nights, ranging from sleeveless, cap sleeve, short sleeve, half sleeve to 3/4 sleeve. All easy to layer garments, created to flatter the female body, sleek enough to fit under smaller jackets.

Birgitte learned to knit at the age of 4. She attended the 'Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten' (Academy for Fine Arts) in Maastricht, the Netherlands where she was born and raised. Her artwork is held in numerous private collections in the USA as well as the Netherlands. As her fashion design business has grown, she has shifted her attention away from painting, drawing, and interior design. She has been selling unique handknit women's and baby clothing since 1994 in the greater Philadelphia area to high-end boutiques, and more recently in Aspen, CO.
